Working For Your Life Purpose
What if your daily work could align with the goals you have for accomplishing your desires?

Everyone seeks to have a fulfilling life and it takes work, like all things in life do, to manifest one. Work can be thought of as negative or positive, but either way it is necessary to get to wherever it is you desire to be. The key to making work a positive experience is to work for your life purpose. If you are working and have no purpose for where you are headed, you will find yourself at a dead end. Before we dive into aligning work with your life purpose and goals, let’s first talk about how to identify what you want out of life.
Ask yourself the following questions:
“What do I value the most in my life?”
“What do I want more than anything during this lifetime?”
“Who do I want to be to the world?”
“What legacy do I want to leave behind?”
Only you can understand your purpose and you should never leave that decision up to someone else. Once you understand your purpose in life, you can set goals for yourself. Goals are important because without them, we have no sense of what we are achieving. Your goals are milestones along your journey to remind you that you have arrived. Goals can be every day reminders or a long timeline of expectations set on yourself. Write your goals down so that you can visualize them and make sure to reevaluate past goals so you can reflect on your accomplishments. Did I meet that goal? Did it go well or do I need to take further action? Everyone has a unique set of qualities and talents and by making goals and acknowledging them, you can set yourself up for not only optimal success, but enjoyment as well. With these two factors in play, your way to a fulfilling life will be clear.
Now that we have discussed what work is and what your goals in life are, we can begin to talk about how you can balance these two aspects. Balance is important because it allows for both sacrifices and fulfillment. If you live in a constant state of frustration or longing, you will never find the right balance of chemistry in your mind, body, and spirit. Ultimately, you may be left with a darkened spirit if you lose sight of balance. I call this “spinning out of control”. We lose motivation, confidence, happiness and depression sets in.
In order to balance work and your life goals, you need to understand what you are willing to sacrifice and what you value at no exception. Let’s face it, we all have to pay rent at the end of the day. But how much of your goals are you willing to leave behind in order to financially be secure? How do you balance financial security and mental fulfillment? One problem that people have with this concept is they think a sacrifice or hardship is forever, but it is not. Sometimes we must tolerate something in order to maintain our sanity along the journey to accomplish something much more rewarding. How much of your sanity you are willing to sacrifice is entirely up to you. When I was young, I was willing to sacrifice luxuries in life until I could pay for them with my own hard earned success. Eventually, those luxuries came along and I didn’t have to lose my soul in the process because I chose to work extra hard in an environment that supported the skills I wanted to learn for my end goal, regardless of pay. I worked and practiced for 60-80 hours per week for 20 years, until I eventually quit my “necessary evil” jobs and reached my goals. Often times, I worked 2 or 3 jobs while running multiple businesses, but I always balanced the work with my purpose. I never gave up on my desire to be self-sufficient and the sacrifice and hard work paid off to a priceless outcome. To me, having my own enterprise was the most fortunate future I could have.
Another goal of mine was to help people achieve the same satisfaction that I was able to create for myself while their journey is fresh and opportunities are unlimited. Balancing work values and goals is something every client struggles with and often times why they seek my coaching. Larry Convington, a client I coached in the past, said:
“I never feel overwhelmed with work and I always have time for family which is important to me. I can work efficiently and not worry about missing out on the important things in my personal life. Doug is the kindest person I know. He loves lending and helping, giving advice, and generally looking out for others well-being.”
I have worked with Larry for over 3 years and was able to watch him grow into the business man he had always aimed to be while also living out his life as a family man. These are the connections that remind me why balance is so important to a fulfilling life.
I can help you create a balance in your life and get onto the path of working for your life’s purpose by sharing my experiences, supporting your ambitions, and highlighting the trust that already exists within your higher self. You cannot trust anyone with your future except yourself but I can guide you along the way to this realization. Although I certainly did not invent the game, I definitely can teach you how to play with it excellence and play to win! Not only do I understand the soulful aspect to a fulfilling life, I also understand the financial and responsibility aspects. I offer business and executive coaching to business owners which I operate through a program that has been refined for the past 25 years. The program is delivered based on the books, E-Myth Revisited, The E-Myth Series and from the author of
Beyond EMyth.
