You know I have tried to keep quiet during this so-called recession until now but I saw a TV commercial tonight that peaked my curiosity and then I looked and then I became outraged and so should you!

BofA claims on the TV commercial I saw tonight (6/7/09) to have lent 1.4 billion in home loans over the last quarter. Sounds pretty good, huh?

Well myself being a sort of a smart guy and pretty good with numbers this sort of sounded funny. So I walked to my computer and hit the good old calculator and guess what. This really didn’t surprise me but that the number was so ridiculous that I just about popped an aneurism.

Here it is, check it out. Here’s the number $1.4 billion. ($1,4000,000,000.00). Now do me a little favor. Divide that into an average quarter. 120 days. Now you’ll get another number. 11.6 million dollars per day. ($11,600,000.00). Now here’s where it starts to get really hilarious. I thought, gee, that doesn’t really sound like a lot of money for a big bank like BofA, does it? But then I thought, how many mortgages is that anyhow? So I divided that number, ($11,600,000.00) into the average home price, ($100,000.00) and I saw that BofA is helping finance a total of 116 homes per day, or thereabouts.

So then I really thought, wow, that doesn’t sound like really that much does it? So I thought how many branches does good old BofA have anyway? Guess what? I searched for almost an hour and could not find out how many. Apparently even BofA don’t know how many. But that’s cool, I just wanted a sort of general idea so I just did some averaging. I could not really say for sure but I thought gee wizz BofA has at least 50 branches per state and there are 50 states so that’d be about 2500 branches.

So okay, let’s take our BofA published number of daily homes mortgaged and divide that into 2500. Hmmm. Divide 116 by 2500 equals 0.0464. Ouch, this is really confusing, no? Let’s put it another way, let’s just divide the number of loans per day into the number of States we have here. 116 divided by 50 equals 2.32.

Now I know this is probably a gross underestimate but now do you really want to laugh (or cry)? Do me just one more little favor, think 2.32 loans per state per day? Or even think 3 loans per state per day. What a total joke!

BofA thinks you are an idiot. I hope you realize this. Send your comments; it’s the only way you can help make things better!

Now these three remain: faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love.

1 Corinthians 13:13

I had a dream last night that made me change the way I look at American foreign policy. It was a simple dream. Nothing real dramatic. There was just a man. A middle eastern man. I think he might have been from Palestine. He was wearing a red turbine looking thing. He was looking right at me. He seemed confused. I mean he seemed just a little perplexed.

I woke up as people often do right after a dream. His face still in my mind as sleep gave way to the morning. Then it dawned on me. He was wondering why and how I could be so concerned with the economic trouble we are having when his country is suffering in a much worse way.

I realized that he was right. I thought about it a moment. Then an idea came to me. I thought, “how about a foreign policy stimulus package?”. All we need to do is run down to Target and buy something and then ship it over there somewhere. If every single American bought one $10 item that would be something like 2 billion dollars.

Just imagine how much that would stimulate the economy! Not to mention the good will. Then I got to thinking about it some more and I realized it wouldn’t be good enough to just send an item. We should send along a message with love offering hope in a letter or a cd or dvd. Now that would be cool!

Just imagine how much that would do to improve things! I thought what if everyone caught on to this? What a wonderful world this would be?! If only. If only we could just be like Christians. I thought, if only we could be like Christians no one would even have to ask us. We would just already be doing something like that. If only.

Well I know it sounds like a silly idea but I think it could work. So how about this? Why don’t you send me an item along with your letter, cd or dvd and a little money so I can sent it over there? You can send it to Doug Hauptman Ministries, 20 Castlehill Court, Covington, GA 30016. Please send only new items. Left overs don’t count really if you want to really do good.

Thanks in advance for your courage and faith.

Christian love, either towards God or towards man, is an affair of the will.

Love and Blessings!

The dream, which is a shared dream, has been waking for a long time. Recently, Obama has inspired myself and others to take action in our community. We see an opportunity for change. We see a chance to get rid of the same old people and make room for a new generation of people who will take ownership of their futures, their finances, their education, their government.

It is not okay with us that people like Hillary and McCain are even being considered in light of their horrible records and negative campaign tactics. Same old; same old. We want change, and are willing to sacrifice, even fight for it. In our homes, in our businesses, in our churches, there is a hope that has not been seen since the days of Robert and Martin.

We believe that we can do the things that need doing. With a new leadership we have faith that we can and will fix the problems we are facing today. We understand that this will require a new way of thinking. We know that we will need to learn, work hard and be patient.

I AM a Republican who voted for Obama in our primary and will vote for Obama in the general election. But make no mistake, I will not support any liberal initiatives that give our sons and daughters over to complacency, immoral behavior, run away spending, socialized anything or any other thing that would have dismayed and disappointed Robert K.

I met RFK when I was seven. My folks were Dem party volunteers in the ‘68 election. My dad carried me to the front of the greeting line in Concord, Ca where RFK gave a speech at a rally just weeks before he was assassinated. As my dad brought me to within feet RFK reached out and took my hand and shook it.

In that moment time stood still. He looked at me with hope. Hope of something he saw in me! I will never forget that look. In his eyes was the sadness, I believe, of the knowledge of what was to come. He was a martyr, for sure. Yet mixed in between the lines of his face and that strange sadness which I will never forget, was this look of hope. Intense hope. When he looked at me. He believed in me, a seven year old little boy.

I have never forgotten that day, it will live with me until the day I die. I will also never forget the day he died. With him, died the hopes and dreams of millions of Americans. That day so died my own dreams. You see, I wanted to be President someday. But not after that, I thought, why bother, they’d just kill me too.

Now I see Obama, clearly unafraid in the midst of what he surely understands is a risky endeavor. I am inspired. Inspired to pick up my dream. Inspired to dare to hope again. Inspired to risk even my own life, if only we can. I say with everyone everywhere who has joined in this call “Yes We Can!”

More on my Presidential aspirations later.

Here is some more about what we are doing. I have some Office Suites which we are using to facilitate “Yes We Can” workshops. The workshops are the fruit of my dreams do date, which until recently we dubbed “Community Empowerment Workshops”. They focus on helping people raise their financial IQ and address numerous economic needs.

We also are incubating small businesses which costs a small fortune. Literally every penny we earn gets put right back into the community. As we have grown, many of our apprentices have grown, who in turn apprentice others, until now the whole thing has taken a life on of it’s own. This is the result of years of work and flying just low enough to stretch out and make it happen without getting nailed or derailed.

Turns out, I am just one of what may be thousands of people in the US to whom God gave this same vision and mission to some years back, many of which are just now breaking through into some notable level of success, impact and growth.

I am an ordained reverend and as such I run my business as a ministry and truly what we have made is a faith based operation in it’s purest form, because God himself has provided, protected and guided us to where we are today.

We want change, you better believe it. But we know it can be done by the people. We do not want big, or bigger government. We do not want any more special interests or greedy money people selling us out.

Comments?

Looking forward to writing more and hearing from many of you out there.

Your Servant,

Rockdale County is making it known that they intend to attack Eastside Pavilion Office Suites for just trying to help small business people. Recently they attempted to deny a business license to a legitimate business person on the grounds of parking space assignment. Then the next day they refused to issue the same on the grounds that Eastside Pavilion Office Suites has no business license, which indeed it does, in the name of Realty Venture Group, LLC, which they very well know and have on record there.

“Eastside Pavilion Office Suites” is a TRADE NAME also known as a SALES MARK. It seems Rockdale County does not know what a SALES MARK is! The license is in the name of Realty Venture Group, LLC; which is the name of our company, and the license is hanging on the wall. Anyone may come and look at it any time they wish.

With all that having been said let me state for the record that I believe very strongly that Rockdale County’s recent actions are bordering on either ignorance or harassment and I promise you I have no patience for neither.

Eastside Pavilion Office Suites is doing something that is one of the most important community services ever offered in Rockdale County. Eastside Pavilion Office Suites is part of a national movement and weather Rockdale County likes it or not, we are doing the Lords work here!

We have testimonials of several dozen small business people who will attest to the fact the we are truly a Faith Based Community Business Economic Development Center.

I would hope that the Rockdale County Authorities currently employed will understand how needed what we are doing is, and how much support the community and indeed the greater government at large is willing to lend us in our efforts to continue our mission.

We view Rockdale County’s interpretation of their old and antiquated ordinances as economic, gender and racial discrimination and we will tolerate them no longer. If they do not cease these practices, it is our intention to launch an aggressive media campaign as well as proffer any and all legal action necessary to make sure that these discriminatory practices are put to an end, once and for all.

As our first action, my hope is to lobby the County Commissioners for a straight up or down vote on these issues to solve the matters at question without too much pain. However, please be advised that it is my intention to bring this issue to the forefront of the local and regional agenda NO MATTER WHAT IT COSTS ME PERSONALLY and I will bet you my bottom dollar we will win!

We have the popular opinion as well as the precedent set by almost every county and city government in the state of Georgia on our side. Executive Suites and Virtual Offices not only provide hope and opportunity, they save gas, they generate revenue for the county, and are part of the new economy that is emerging. They are a vital part of our community!

To refuse to accommodate Executive and Virtual Offices and treat them as anything other than legitimate is simply ignorant. There is no argument that can make our busniess model go away. Our business model has been adopted by almost every county in the entire country!

What really makes me hurt, I mean what really upsets me, is that I recently heard testimony from a business person who happened to be a black woman who was told that she should not “even bother to try a virtual office” to get a business license! I am so shocked by the number of witnesses who have sat in front of me and related many such horror stories!

The people at Rockdale County code enforcement are out of touch and out of control! Whom is it they serve? Seems they are serving their own interests and I can promise you with the political stuff going on right now this will make NATIONAL HEADLINES and I will love every frame of it!

Well that’s all I have to say for now, please comment on this blog!

Is it just me or do the clouds look different than when I was a little boy in Concord California? I can remember these huge beautiful puffy white clouds that would just sort of ease their way from one side of the sky to the other. They would often take other forms like dragons, birds, animals or other mysterious shapes seemingly transforming right before my eyes. They were beautiful. They were way up there. High, high above. They were a source of certainty, a part of the world, or so it seemed.

But now those clouds are gone. They have been replaced by rapidly low rolling thunder clouds. Almost every rainy day, when we get a rainy day, they seem just angry. They come for just long enough to dump a few buckets of rain and maybe blow down a few trees and then they are just gone.

Gone are those beautiful magestic rolling clouds. Gone forever. Or at least for as long as what really matters. My five year old Mali will never know those sort of clouds. She is mostly afraid of the low rolling thunder clouds we have now. She has known more natural disasters in her short life than I had all the way to my fortieth birthday. My daughter only knows them to be scary and destructive.

Those white clouds which were the freinds of my youth are gone. I can’t remember the last time I saw one. It has been years. The only slow ones are very low in the sky, not way up there like before. And they seem sort of grey and washed out. Not the beautiful puffy white I remember. What have we done?

What have we done?

My first car was a 1967 Camaro SS. I loved that car. I bought it with money I saved working as a bus boy at Mr. Steak. Fixed it up. Raced it. Wrecked it. Fixed it again. Eventually sold it. I had many good times in that old 327 Chevy. I will never forget the feeling of power as it accelerated from zero to sixty in a few seconds. And talk about a chick magnet. Wow!

It is easy to understand our love affair with the automobile. But what will we do without water? Without food? The things that global warming is causing to happen will bring an end to everything if we don’t figure out a way to stop it.

I like John McCain’s reward offer. I don’t know why anyone would criticize such an idea. As a matter of fact, I don’t know why anyone would criticize any idea that might help. In as much as I understand this situation, I think we need every single idea, every single person, every single nation, every single company, every single community, everyone. We need everyone to do everything they can to find a way to get from point A to point B without raising to co2 levels any more than they are.

What do you think?

My name is Doug Hauptman and I live in Covington, GA. I am a minister businessman. I do not have a church but I do my best to conduct my business as a ministry. I am ordained in the Universal Life Church. The main focus of my ministry is to teach people how to be more self sufficient and even to help them build enough wealth to be able to help others and have more time for family and such other things that ones limited time on earth should be spent well doing, such as you yourself are doing now.

I am not a non-profit per say, yet, but I am as generous as I can afford to be. My first business is AtlantaWebsites.com which does website development for small businesses. AWS gives generously time and resources to help small businesses, churches and other organizations leverage the internet to make good business. Let’s face it, it takes money to be able to minister to people. Faith without works is just vanity.

The second is SEONow.us which focuses on the same market but delivers search engine positioning services for the same reason. The third business is AllAroundPools.us which builds swimming pools in the local area. AAP is a new business and has already contracted five pools since it began late last year. AAP hopes to employ as many people as possible who are good with their hands. Finally there is Realty Venture Group, LLC. RVGLLC currently holds a leveraged ownership in Eastside Pavilion Office Suites in Conyers, GA. (www.eastsidepavilionofficesuites.com).

RVGLLC’ mission is to develop local community based business & economic development centers all throughout the U.S. Eastside Pavilion is the first 10,000 square feet of what I hope to be at least 1,000,000 square feet of hope for many small businesses that no government programs or other organizations will help. These beneficiaries consist mainly of regular people, many of them single (divorced) women, who have a dream of owning their own business but have not the necessary education, training, experience nor capital to even hope to try.

This is one of the most important things that this world needs today. If the U.S. does not get it’s act together it may bring the end to everything. Education and learning to do good, honest business in the global economy is the only answer for a long term, sustainable solution. But in order to be truly sustainable through the generations these people must not only learn how to do good business, they must be made to want to focus on the green technologies that can also save the earth.

Eastside Pavilion is focusing on developing business people who will make good business while focusing on green technologies. We do this by offering low cost business offices, consulting, communications, in short, everything a business needs combined with effective training, educating, consulting and networking with emphasis on following through with each and every individual. My dream, my hope, my vision, is to build 100 properties like Eastside Pavilion. One million square feet of hope.

Although we have just begun in January of this year, we already have a respectable number of success stories. I can send you a DVD of a number of them telling their story of you like.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or need anything at all. Stay well and God Bless You!
